AquaTrigger® Vents
Automatically stop vents from causing flooding to transportation tunnels, utility corridors, mechanical rooms and subway pedestrian crossings with help from PS Flood Barriers®. The AquaTrigger® Ground Vent and its companion product, the AquaTrigger Vent Basin, have been engineered to balance the need for airflow with the growing need for flood-proofing ground-level ventilation.
The AquaTrigger Ground Vent (AGV-720) is an automatic flood barrier engineered to remain concealed below the vent opening during normal conditions, preserving the architectural appearance and maintaining unrestricted airflow. During flooding conditions, the system automatically reacts to rising water levels and deploys to seal the opening, preventing floodwater from entering the ventilation system and the critical infrastructure below. This automatic operation provides passive protection without requiring manual deployment or operator intervention during emergency conditions.
For locations where water management strategies direct stormwater away from the protected area, the AquaTrigger Vent Basin (AGV-710) serves as a companion solution to the AquaTrigger Ground Vent. The AquaTrigger Vent Basin provides permanent ventilation protection while maintaining unrestricted airflow at all times. Designed for applications where full closure is not required, it helps support proper air exchange while complementing broader site drainage and flood mitigation strategies.
Together, the AquaTrigger Ground Vent and AquaTrigger Vent Basin provide cities, transit authorities and infrastructure owners with engineered solutions that balance two critical priorities: maintaining essential ventilation for underground systems while protecting those same systems from the growing threat of flash flooding and extreme weather events.
