Florida Product Approval

By Florida state law, building components such as doors, roofing and windows are required to obtain Florida Product Approval that provides evidence that the product is suitable for use in the state of Florida based on standards set in current Florida Building Codes. Specific limitations of use are provided that limit the approved product’s use to rated structural loads.

What Is The High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ)?

The High Velocity Hurricane Zone or HVHC (also known as The Dade County Code) includes Broward and Miami-Dade counties in Florida. Building products sold in this unique area must be HVHZ approved. The wind pressure or “design pressure” (DP) rating required for this area is higher, and the requirements for anchoring methods are also more stringent. The Florida Building Code (FBC) governs standards for the rest of the State of Florida and all building products sold in the state must have FBC approval.

HYDRO1® Flood Doors Pass The Tests

The rigorous evaluation process for Florida Product Approval includes testing for resistance to high wind forces (TAS 201, TAS 202, and TAS 203) and ongoing auditing of quality assurance programs. Hydro1 Flood Doors have passed these tests, and more details on these specific tests can be found in the chart below.

MORE ON HYDRO1® FLOOD DOORS

Hydro1 Flood Doors from PS Flood Barriers are the most progressive products in the passive flood-protection market, serving as both flood-protection barriers and normal-use pedestrian doors. The Hydro1 is a purpose-built flood door, not to be confused with repurposed hollow metal doors that fail to meet flood codes. They feature the lowest leakage rate in the industry with 50% less leakage than the ANSI/FM Approvals 2510-2020 4.3.3 standard (hardware included), and a unique one-piece perimeter gasket that creates a watertight seal.

Always in place, these doors provide unmatched flood protection while allowing pedestrians access to a facility.  Our line of custom built doors include Pedestrian Flood Doors and 90 Min. Fire Rated Flood Doors – available in single and paired configurations. Or if you need flood protection in a hurry, our single 3’x7′ Hydro1 Stock door with an ANSI Gray 70 finish can be shipped in 3 days or less (limited to stock on hand). All Hydro1 doors are ADA compliant.
